ALL Accor+ Explorer Malaysia Review: Is It Worth It?
The recent launch of the HLB Opus Visa Infinite Privilege introduced several new premium travel benefits to Malaysia. Among them was one that probably sounded unfamiliar to most cardholders: complimentary access to ALL Accor+ Explorer.
HLB describes the Opus as an invitation-only product created for a very select circle of clients. In plain English, practically nobody reading this article will be eligible for one.
That makes the more useful question rather obvious. What exactly is ALL Accor+ Explorer, and is it worth paying for if you cannot obtain it through the HLB Opus? The short answer is yes, surprisingly.
ALL Accor+ Explorer is one of the few paid hotel memberships where the value can realistically exceed the membership fee without requiring you to spend half your life inside hotels. However, that conclusion depends heavily on how you use the two Stay Plus nights and, more importantly, whether you take advantage of Red Hot Rooms.
Let’s take a closer look.
Accor, ALL and ALL Accor+ Explorer Are Not the Same Thing
The naming is unnecessarily confusing, so let’s get the basics out of the way. Accor is the hotel group behind brands including Raffles, Fairmont, Sofitel, MGallery, Pullman, Mövenpick, Swissôtel, Novotel, Mercure, ibis and ibis Styles.
ALL is Accor’s free loyalty programme. Anyone can join, earn Reward points from eligible stays and gradually work towards Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond status.
ALL Accor+ Explorer is different. It is a paid 12-month subscription layered on top of your normal ALL account. Instead of waiting to earn benefits through hotel stays, Explorer immediately unlocks a collection of hotel, dining and status privileges.
In Malaysia, an ALL Accor+ Explorer membership currently costs RM949. This is expected to increase to RM999 from 1 October 2026. At the time of writing, new Malaysian members also receive an RM130 dining voucher as a limited-time joining benefit.

What Does ALL Accor+ Explorer Include?
A full paid ALL Accor+ Explorer membership includes:
Two Stay Plus free nights across Asia Pacific and the UAE
30 ALL Status Nights, granting immediate Gold status or helping existing elite members progress towards a higher tier
Access to Red Hot Rooms with discounts of up to 50%
15% off public hotel rates across more than 5,000 Accor hotels worldwide
30% off food and 15% off drinks at participating hotels across Asia Pacific and the UAE
Access to More Escapes packages, exclusive events and other member offers
On paper, that is a strong collection of benefits. The mistake would be to value every item at its theoretical maximum. A 50% discount is worthless if it is unavailable on your travel dates, while a “free night” has no value if you would never have booked the hotel in the first place.
The real question is how much money these benefits can save against what you would otherwise have paid.
Instant ALL Accor Gold Status
Every Explorer membership comes with 30 ALL Status Nights. This immediately grants ALL Gold status, even if you have never previously stayed at an Accor hotel. Gold benefits include room upgrades, welcome drinks, early check-in and late check-out at participating hotels, generally subject to availability.
This is certainly useful, especially across higher-end properties such as Sofitel, Fairmont, Pullman and MGallery. An upgrade from a base room can materially improve a stay, while flexible check-in or check-out is always appreciated on awkward flight schedules.
However, let’s manage expectations. ALL Gold does not automatically provide complimentary breakfast or executive lounge access. Those are generally associated with higher ALL tiers or specific room categories. Room upgrades and flexible check-in arrangements are also not guaranteed.
Gold status should therefore be viewed as something that makes your Accor stays better, rather than something worth paying RM949 for on its own. The real value lies elsewhere.
Red Hot Rooms Are the Real Reason to Care
To understand why Red Hot Rooms matter, we first need to be brutally honest about hotel pricing. Booking directly with a hotel is not always cheaper.
Accor may advertise a preferential member rate, but online travel agencies such as Trip.com frequently offer lower prices after accounting for app-exclusive rates, promotional codes and other platform discounts.
A 15% discount on an expensive public rate is still an expensive rate. There are legitimate reasons to book directly. Eligible direct bookings can provide access to ALL points, status recognition and member benefits that may not apply through third-party platforms. Nevertheless, none of that changes the fact that most travellers should compare the final amount payable before booking.
This is precisely where Red Hot Rooms become interesting.
Red Hot Rooms are heavily discounted, room-only rates offered exclusively to ALL Accor+ Explorer members across Asia Pacific and the UAE. New offers are released regularly, with discounts of up to 50% at selected hotels. Unlike a generic 10% or 15% member discount, some Red Hot Room prices are genuinely aggressive enough to beat the major online travel agencies.
At the time of writing, ibis Styles Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang is offering a Red Hot Room rate from RM110++ instead of RM220++, representing a genuine 50% reduction. Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara is also offering rooms from RM385+ instead of RM642+, equivalent to a 40% discount.
These are not microscopic reductions disguised by creative marketing. When availability aligns with your travel dates, the savings can be substantial. This is especially relevant for short regional trips to destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Bali, Singapore, Melbourne and other cities where Accor has a very strong footprint. A single well-timed Red Hot Room booking could recover a meaningful portion of the annual membership fee.
It also changes the economics of booking directly. Under normal circumstances, an Accor direct rate may struggle against Trip.com. Once a Red Hot Room becomes available, the direct booking can suddenly become comfortably cheaper while retaining the advantages of booking within the Accor ecosystem.
I thought the Singapore deals were alot more attractive. SGD192++ for a Pullman Singapore Hill Street room in City Hall is a pretty decent deal.
That said, Red Hot Rooms should never be booked blindly. The rates are usually prepaid and non-refundable. Availability is limited, selected dates may be blacked out, and the advertised rate may not include breakfast, service charges or taxes. The cheapest displayed price is also not necessarily available throughout the entire promotional period.
Before booking, compare three prices:
The normal Accor direct rate
The Explorer or Red Hot Room rate
The final price on an online travel agency such as Trip.com
Make sure you are comparing the same room, the same cancellation terms, the same meal inclusions and the final amount after taxes.

Two Stay Plus Free Nights
The two Stay Plus nights provide the most predictable value within a full paid ALL Accor+ Explorer membership. Each Stay Plus benefit gives you one complimentary room night when booking an eligible stay of at least two nights across participating properties in Asia Pacific and the UAE.
In other words, this is effectively a stay-two-pay-one arrangement that can be used twice during the membership year.
However, the two certificates cannot normally be combined into one booking. You cannot simply reserve two consecutive nights and use both certificates to make the entire stay free. Each Stay Plus benefit must be used as part of its own qualifying stay.
Selected resorts and long-stay properties may also require a minimum of three nights, while blackout dates, room restrictions and capacity controls can apply.
The complimentary portion is room-only, so breakfast and other inclusions are not automatically covered.
Despite those restrictions, this remains a genuinely valuable benefit.
If you redeem each Stay Plus night at a hotel costing RM350, you have already recovered RM700 of the RM949 membership fee. Redeeming them at higher-end resorts or luxury properties could theoretically produce even more value.
The usual warning applies: do not value a certificate based on the most expensive hotel appearing on a list. Value it according to the hotel you would realistically book, on dates when you would genuinely travel.
Imaginary savings are not savings.
Dining Discounts Can Quietly Recover the Remaining Cost
Explorer members receive 30% off food and 15% off drinks at participating Accor restaurants and bars across Asia Pacific and the UAE. This is something similar to AmBank's previous Club Marriott Membership program which has since been retired.
The food discount generally covers the member’s entire table for groups of up to 10 people. You also do not need to be staying at the hotel to use it. For Malaysians living in Kuala Lumpur, this benefit is arguably easier to use than the hotel discounts. Accor operates numerous restaurants across Sofitel, Pullman, Novotel, Mercure and other properties around the Klang Valley.
A RM500 eligible food bill could generate savings of up to RM150. Use the benefit four times during the year and you could save RM600 without booking a single hotel room.
Naturally, not every restaurant participates. Venue-specific exclusions and blackout dates apply, particularly around public holidays and special occasions. You should always check the participating restaurant list before making a reservation.
Still, for anyone who regularly dines at hotels, the mathematics can become compelling very quickly.
The Standard 15% Hotel Discount Is Less Exciting
ALL Accor+ Explorer also provides 15% off public rates across more than 5,000 Accor hotels worldwide.
The global footprint is useful because Red Hot Rooms, dining discounts and Stay Plus benefits are largely concentrated within Asia Pacific and the UAE. The 15% Explorer rate can therefore still be used at Accor hotels in Europe, North America and other regions.
However, I would not assign too much value to this benefit. The discount is measured against Accor’s public rate, not necessarily the cheapest rate available anywhere on the internet. A prepaid public rate, limited-time sale or online travel agency promotion may still be cheaper.
Think of the 15% discount as another price to compare, not an instruction to stop comparing.
What Does the HLB Opus Visa Infinite Privilege Actually Receive?
The HLB Opus is Malaysia’s first Visa Infinite Privilege card, and ALL Accor+ Explorer is part of the wider Visa Infinite Privilege benefit portfolio. HLB Opus cardholders receive complimentary 12-month access to ALL Accor+ Explorer, including:
Instant ALL Gold status through 30 Status Nights
Access to Red Hot Rooms
30% off dining and 15% off drinks
15% off public hotel rates worldwide
More Escapes packages and exclusive member offers
However, there is one extremely important exclusion. The complimentary Visa Infinite Privilege membership does not include the two Stay Plus free nights.
That distinction matters because the two Stay Plus nights are arguably the most straightforward way for a paying member to recover the RM949 membership fee.
In other words, HLB Opus cardholders receive most of the Explorer ecosystem, but not the complete retail membership sold directly by Accor.
This does not make the benefit useless. Red Hot Rooms, Gold status and dining discounts can still deliver substantial value, especially for the globally mobile private banking clientele targeted by HLB.
However, it also means you should not blindly assign the full RM949 retail price to the HLB Opus benefit when attempting to justify the card’s RM3,000 annual fee. The two products are not identical.
Eligible HLB Opus cardholders should nevertheless activate the membership as soon as possible. There is no reason to leave complimentary access unused, particularly when registrations are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis.

Final Thoughts
ALL Accor+ Explorer is not valuable because it turns everyone into an Accor loyalist. It is valuable because it gives the right traveller several realistic ways to make an Accor booking genuinely competitive.
At RM949, the membership does not require heroic optimisation to break even. Saving RM300 on each of the two Stay Plus nights, RM200 through one Red Hot Room booking and RM150 from an eligible hotel meal already produces RM950 in value. These are plausible savings for someone who already travels within Asia Pacific, not one of those ridiculous calculations where every benefit is assigned its theoretical maximum.
Gold status improves the experience, while Stay Plus provides the clearest path towards recovering the membership fee. However, Red Hot Rooms remain the real wildcard. Standard Accor rates frequently lose against online travel agencies, but a well-timed Red Hot Room can reverse that equation and make booking directly meaningfully cheaper.
The membership therefore makes sense if you already have two suitable trips in mind, travel regularly within Asia Pacific or the UAE, and are flexible enough to use Red Hot Rooms or Accor’s dining discounts. It becomes far less compelling if you usually choose whichever hotel is cheapest, require refundable bookings, have fixed travel dates or are purchasing it primarily for Gold status.
For HLB Opus cardholders, activating the complimentary membership should be an immediate decision. It excludes the two Stay Plus nights and therefore does not match the full retail membership, but complimentary Gold status, dining discounts and Red Hot Room access remain genuinely useful additions.
For everyone else, my recommendation is simple: only buy ALL Accor+ Explorer if you can already identify how you will use both Stay Plus nights and at least one other meaningful benefit. If the membership saves money on travel you were already planning, it is genuinely worthwhile.
If you are buying it merely because the list of benefits looks impressive, save the RM949 and continue comparing hotel prices instead. Otherwise, you may find yourself choosing an Accor hotel purely because you already paid for Explorer.
That is not loyalty optimisation. That is the sunk-cost fallacy wearing a bathrobe.
