Hot off the runway at the 2025 Paris Air Show, All Nippon Airways (ANA) has officially revealed its newest business class cabin product—The Room FX.

This next-generation suite is an evolution of ANA’s highly acclaimed “The Room” Business Class, originally introduced on its Boeing 777-300ER fleet.

While the original version won widespread praise for its residential-style layout and sheer spaciousness, it has been difficult to fly due to its limited deployment on routes like Tokyo–New York and Tokyo–London.

For Refined Points readers—especially those earning KrisFlyer miles—this unveiling is a major win, and here’s why.

The Room FX Business Class

The Room FX will debut on ANA’s Boeing 787-9 aircraft, of which ANA already has 44 in service and a further 27 on order. Unlike the Boeing 777-300ER, the Dreamliner is ANA’s workhorse across a much broader range of regional and long-haul routes, including many throughout Asia.

That means you’re far more likely to encounter these next-generation seats flying from Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, or Singapore to Tokyo in the near future—no more carefully curated itineraries just to try “The Room.”

What’s particularly noteworthy is that The Room FX adopts a non-reclining fixed-shell design, akin to Finnair’s revolutionary Business Class seat.

Instead of traditional reclining mechanisms, the entire seat transforms into a fully flat bed through a sliding and flipping process. This approach not only maximizes privacy and space but also reduces weight—contributing to fuel savings and environmental benefits.

From the initial photos, The Room FX maintains the design language of its predecessor: wall-to-wall width, closing doors, and a full-length bench-style seat that transforms into a wide bed.

However, ANA has made subtle enhancements to align with the narrower fuselage of the 787, ensuring comfort is not compromised. With more aircraft equipped and more routes served, ANA’s latest product will no longer be an elusive unicorn—it could become one of the most accessible luxury seats in Asia.

Planning for the Future

While ANA has only confirmed a 2026 rollout for The Room FX, airline miles are a long-term strategy—and early planners always win.

Currently, no Malaysian bank offers direct conversion to ANA Mileage Club. Even CIMB, known for its expansive list of frequent flyer partners, only allows conversions to Japan Airlines’ JAL Mileage Bank.

That said, you can still fly ANA Business Class using Star Alliance partners. Singapore Airlines’ KrisFlyer is the most practical option for Malaysians. Not only is it widely accessible through credit cards like CIMB and UOB, but its online platform also allows seamless award bookings on ANA.

In fact, there are instances where Singapore Airlines Saver awards may be unavailable, but ANA flights—especially on less competitive routes—still offer Saver award seats. Finding an available seat however is a different story altogether.

So while the new seat won’t take to the skies until 2026, this is the time to start planning. Lock in your airline miles strategy now, and you might be among the first in the region to try The Room FX.

Final Thoughts

ANA’s unveiling of The Room FX marks a bold step forward—not just in seat design, but in accessibility for frequent flyers across Asia. With the Dreamliner fleet poised to carry these suites far and wide, it’s no longer just premium U.S. or London-bound flyers who get to enjoy ANA’s best.

For those in Southeast Asia, this opens up a genuine opportunity to fly one of the world’s top business class products without leaving the region.

While it’s still a year or two away from launch, now’s the perfect time to align your strategy. With KrisFlyer as the most viable redemption route, and ANA’s improved seat rollout on track, the future of premium travel looks promising for savvy points collectors.
