I’m finally back in KL after what felt like an endless summer working my butt off, and I’ve been spending some time hopping across ASEAN.
Having visited Plaza Premium First countless times, I figured it was about time I gave the Sky Suite Lounge at KLIA Terminal 1 Satellite a try.
Lounge Access and Location
The Sky Suite Lounge is located in the Satellite Terminal of KLIA Terminal 1. To get there, you’ll need to take the AeroTrain, and once you arrive, the lounge sits right at the far end of Gate C1, next to Gate C3.

As luck would have it, my flight was departing from C3, so it was the perfect chance to stop by before boarding.
I got in using my UOB Visa Infinite, which comes with DragonPass privileges, but LoungeKey and Priority Pass are also accepted.

Most credit cards in Malaysia, which utilize the Plaza Premium Lounge network, won't be able to gain you access to this particular lounge, most notably CIMB credit cards, which are well known for having a broad range of lounge access even beyond Plaza Premium lounges.
Bottom line: if your card has DragonPass, Priority Pass, or LoungeKey access, you’re good to go. Otherwise, don’t bother.
The Lounge
The reception sits on the same level as the gates, but once you’re checked in, the lounge itself is one floor up.

First impressions? Not bad at all. In fact, I was pleasantly surprised. The space is generously sized, with plush couches and a stylish dining area that looks far more polished than I expected.

There’s a dedicated dining section serving a modest buffet spread with cold cuts, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks. It wasn’t exactly overflowing with options, but it got the job done.

During my visit, the lounge was pretty quiet—no surprise given its tucked-away location at the far end of the terminal.
There’s also a bar, which at first glance looks promising… until you realize the alcohol selection is underwhelming. Beer choices were limited to cans, with no draft on offer. Not the end of the world for someone like me who isn’t fussy about alcohol, but worth noting.

Towards the back, there’s a more secluded area with tarmac views. My guess is that this section is reserved for VIPs when needed, but during my visit it was just extra seating space.

The lounge is also equipped with individual restrooms and shower cubicles, which were kept clean and well-maintained.

Final Thoughts
The Sky Suite Lounge is a decent hidden gem, though it clearly doesn’t get much attention—probably because of its out-of-the-way location.
Personally, I found it much better than the Travel Club Lounge upstairs in the same terminal. That said, neither comes close to the Plaza Premium Lounge or Plaza Premium First over at the KLIA Terminal 1 Main Terminal.
In short, the Sky Suite Lounge is worth considering only if you’re short on time or if your gate happens to be C3. Otherwise, I’d save my lounge visit (and my DragonPass entries) for something better.
