Update: 17/4/2025
Now that Malaysia Airlines has concluded its 48‑hour Enrich Priority Sale, its Public Sale for the 2025 MATTA Fair is now live.
Travellers can enjoy discounts of up to 30 per cent, plus an additional five per cent off for Enrich members. Enrich members using their AmBank Enrich Visa credit cards will earn 2X Enrich Miles during this Public Sale, rather than the 4X offered in the Priority Sale.
Despite the reduced mileage accrual, the deals remain competitive. Before booking with Malaysia Airlines, however, compare these fares with MATTA Fair promotions from Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific—especially if the price difference is small—as both carriers typically provide a higher standard of service and in‑flight experience.
While EnrichMoney members can earn 5X EnrichMoney points, this article will not cover that option due to the prepaid card’s limited adoption in Malaysia.
The Public Sale runs until 28 April 2025, with travel valid through 31 March 2026.
Promotional fares apply only to booking classes O, Z and P in both economy and business class; all other booking classes are excluded. If the booking class codes seem confusing
Original Article:
Malaysia Airlines has announced a 48-Hour Enrich Priority Sale ahead of the 2025 MATTA Fair, which will take place from 18–20 April 2025 at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC).
The MATTA Fair has long been known for its generous travel discounts, attractive tour packages, and even tailored travel itineraries designed to please even the most discerning traveller.
In recent years, it has become common practice for tour companies and travel agencies to release “special” deals in advance of the fair, aiming to attract early bookers who may already have a destination in mind. I personally experienced this a few years ago when booking with Apple Vacations, a well-known agency especially recognised for its Japan tour offerings.
This year, Malaysia Airlines is offering a 48-hour Enrich Priority Sale from 15–16 April 2025, providing customers with additional discounts and benefits when booking their flights during this exclusive window.
Highlights from the promotional email include:
Up to 30% off Malaysia Airlines flights
An additional 5% member-exclusive discount
5x EnrichMoney Points when paying with the EnrichMoney Visa Prepaid Card
4x Enrich Points when paying with the AmBank Enrich Visa Credit Card
What particularly caught my attention was the “4x Enrich Points” offer for transactions made using the AmBank Enrich Visa Credit Card.

For reference, the AmBank Enrich Visa Infinite currently offers a standard earn rate of 1 mile per RM1 spent (MPR) on airline transactions, including Malaysia Airlines.
Of course, being skeptical on this, I phoned up the Enrich Platinum hotline to reconfirm, and it turns out that you'll earn 4x Enrich Points based on the flight booking itself.
Currently, Enrich Platinum awards 2.2 Enrich Points for every RM1 spent. Hence, a return flight which costs RM2,000 without taxes would net you 4,400 Enrich Miles in general. However, with this promotion, you'll earn four times that amount, equalling to 17,600 Enrich Miles.
Given that you earn 1 MPR on the AmBank Enrich Visa Infinite for Airlines spend, your total Enrich Miles earnt would be 19,600 Enrich Miles, earning you a very decent 9.8 MPR.
Important: You only earn Enrich Miles on the fare, without taxes and fees, so the final amount is likely less than the best case calculation.
Which Routes Should you Fly on Malaysia Airlines?
Let’s be clear—if you’re planning a trip beyond ASEAN, Malaysia Airlines likely shouldn’t be your go-to carrier. When stacked against competitors like Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific, Malaysia Airlines simply doesn’t hold up—especially on North Asia routes to destinations like South Korea and Japan.

For flights to Europe, you’re almost always better off choosing Singapore Airlines or one of the Middle Eastern carriers offering superior service and better value.

That said, a 30% discount during this Priority Sale changes the equation—slightly. If the fare is right, Malaysia Airlines might actually be worth considering on some routes. And I emphasize some, because your experience will depend heavily on the aircraft you’re flying.
To get the most out of your Enrich Priority Sale booking, you should prioritise routes served by Malaysia Airlines’ flagship Airbus A350-900 and their brand-new Airbus A330-900neo aircraft.

As of 12 April 2025, Malaysia Airlines operates an active fleet of seven Airbus A350-900 aircraft and two Airbus A330-900neo aircraft. The A350-900 has been in service for several years and remains the airline’s long-haul workhorse.
In contrast, the A330-900neo is a fresh addition to the fleet and features a two-class layout with 297 seats—28 in Business Class and 269 in Economy Class.
What’s exciting is the all-new Business Class cabin on the A330-900neo, which introduces the Collins Aerospace Elevation Business Class suite with individual privacy doors—a first for Malaysia Airlines. If you’re using this sale as an excuse for a premium cabin getaway, this is where you’d want to be seated.

As of today, Malaysia Airlines deploys its Airbus A350-900 aircraft primarily on its longest-haul routes, including:
Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to London Heathrow (LHR)
Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Paris Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
Selected services to Tokyo Narita (NRT)
Selected services to Doha (DOH)
While Tokyo and Doha are currently operated by the A350, these routes are gradually being transitioned to the A330-900neo as more aircraft are delivered.

Meanwhile, the newer A330-900neo aircraft have already entered service on several high-demand routes, including:
Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Melbourne (MEL)
Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Auckland (AKL)
Kuala Lumpur (KUL) to Denpasar (DPS)
Phased-in services to Tokyo Narita (NRT) and Doha (DOH)
So, if you’re booking under the Enrich Priority Sale, make sure you check the aircraft type before confirming your flight. With the A350 and A330neo, you’re far more likely to get a premium experience—especially in Business Class.
Final Thoughts
While Malaysia Airlines may not always be the first choice for long-haul travel, the 48-Hour Enrich Priority Sale offers genuinely compelling value—especially if you can snag a flight on their A350 or brand-new A330neo aircraft.
With up to 30% off fares, bonus Enrich Miles, and impressive earn rates on select credit cards, this promotion is well worth considering for savvy travellers.
Just be strategic with your route and aircraft selection, and you might find yourself enjoying a surprisingly premium experience at a fraction of the usual cost.
