We're kicking off the second half of 2025 with yet another update in the Malaysian credit card landscape—this time from AmBank.

Starting 1 July 2025, the AmBank Enrich Visa Infinite will impose a mandatory, non-waivable RM500 annual fee for all new signups. This marks a departure from its initial one-year fee waiver when the card first launched in mid-2024.

For existing cardholders and those entering their second year, the good news is that the annual fee can still be waived, subject to meeting specific spend thresholds.

Spend RM50,000 within 12 months to receive a 50% waiver, or RM100,000 to enjoy a full waiver. This mirrors the tiered waiver model introduced by CIMB’s Travel World Elite—a card highly rated by Refined Points readers for its practical value.

How Does This Impact Enrich Miles Enthusiasts?

Let’s be honest: if you're still deep in the Enrich Miles ecosystem, a RM500 fee is probably the least of your concerns. The Enrich program continues to offer some of the lowest value airline miles in Malaysia as of 2025. As such, this annual fee revision is unlikely to shake up the strategy for seasoned Enrich miles hunters.

At Refined Points, we’ve long argued that the AmBank Enrich cards aren’t even the best tools for earning Enrich Miles. With more rewarding alternatives like the Hong Leong Bank Sutera Visa Infinite and Alliance Bank Visa Infinite—both of which offer significantly better miles-per-ringgit (MPR) rates on local spend—the AmBank Enrich Visa Infinite fails to stand out in the airline miles arena.

Of course, let's not forget Hong Leong Bank's brilliant revamp to it's Visa Infinite portfolio last month.

Its only meaningful value proposition remains in overseas spend categories, but even there, cards like the UOB PRVI Miles Elite outperform it in both rates and added lifestyle benefits, including RM160 worth of monthly Grab limo rides.

Still, the card isn’t without merit. It offers complimentary access to Malaysia Airlines Golden Lounges and a rare Fast Track benefit to Enrich Elite Status—an appealing perk for those seeking to qualify faster for Enrich Gold or Platinum.

This translates to Oneworld Sapphire and Oneworld Emerald status respectively, which unlock access to world-class lounges across Hong Kong, Singapore, London, and beyond—even when flying Economy Class.

Yet, here's the catch: the AmBank Enrich Visa Platinum also offers the same Fast Track perk with no annual fee. If lounge access and elite tier acceleration are your main goals, you’re arguably better off choosing the Platinum version and shifting your spending to better-performing cards for miles accumulation.

Final Thoughts

The introduction of a RM500 non-waivable fee for new applicants may seem like a bold move by AmBank, but in reality, it’s unlikely to make waves among savvy cardholders. The card’s true draw lies in its Fast Track to elite status and Golden Lounge access—niche benefits that appeal to a small subset of frequent flyers chasing Oneworld status.

For everyone else, especially those focused on maximising Enrich Miles accrual, the AmBank Enrich Visa Infinite is difficult to recommend in 2025. With stronger local and overseas MPR rates available elsewhere, this card doesn't justify a top spot in your wallet—unless you're laser-focused on elite perks and lounge access. And even then, the Visa Platinum version might be the smarter (and cheaper) play.

As with every Enrich Miles-focused article I’ve written, allow me to end with a word of caution: Only adopt these strategies if you’re genuinely committed to flying with Malaysia Airlines.
