I'm admittedly a little late to the party on this one, but don’t worry the promotion still has more than 10 days left before it ends. And given how rare it is for Maybank to run anything genuinely interesting under the KrisFlyer AMEX lineup, this one’s worth talking about.

Maybank is running a limited-time offer awarding double miles on all eligible spend with Singapore Airlines, Scoot, and KrisShop. In practice, this works out to a clean 2 MPR on any Singapore Airlines, Scoot, or KrisShop transaction, regardless of whether you pay in MYR or foreign currency.

Naturally, there’s a cap. Each cardholder is limited to a bonus of 5,000 KrisFlyer Miles throughout the campaign. Put simply: spend RM5,000 on a Singapore Airlines ticket and you’ll receive 10,000 KrisFlyer Miles in total, with 5,000 coming from the base earn and the other 5,000 from the bonus. That RM5,000 spend is effectively your ceiling.

There’s also a campaign-wide cap of 2,000,000 bonus miles, although I highly doubt this will be hit. The promotion has been extremely quiet on social media.

Still, it’s a genuinely strong offer. If you’ve been planning to book Singapore Airlines flights for 2025, this is an easy opportunity to pick up some extra KrisFlyer Miles without lifting a finger.

The Singapore Airlines KrisFlyer American Express Platinum is, and has always been, a niche player in Malaysia’s airline miles landscape. Its core value lies in two earn rates that occasionally come in handy: 0.4 MPR on local spend and 0.5 MPR on online spend. For very specific use cases, these can fill small gaps in a strategy, but the card has never been a mainstream miles workhorse.

For actual spend on Singapore Airlines, Scoot, or KrisShop, I’d personally reach for the UOB PRVI Miles Elite instead. You’ll still earn a flat 1 MPR when paying in SGD, and more importantly, you’re not locked into a KrisFlyer-only ecosystem.
