Often referred to as the best Oneworld Sapphire lounge at Singapore Changi Airport, we offer a comprehensive look at one of the busiest lounges at Changi Terminal 1.
Lounge Access
Access to this lounge is granted to passengers:
Flying on Qantas, Emirates, or a oneworld member-operated flight who are:
Traveling in First Class or Business Class.
Traveling in Premium Economy or Economy Class and possess:
Qantas Platinum One, Platinum, or Gold status.
Emirates Platinum or Gold Skywards status (for Qantas or Emirates flights)
oneworld Emerald or Sapphire status (for Qantas or oneworld flights).
Flying on a Jetstar flight (coded JQ, 3K, or BL) who are:
On a Jetstar Business Max fare.
Holding Qantas Platinum One, Platinum, or Gold status.
Additionally, Qantas Club members flying with a Qantas (QF) or Jetstar (JQ, 3K, or BL) flight number are also eligible for lounge access.
Lounge Seating
The space at the Qantas Business Lounge is significant. You'll hardly find it difficult to settle down at a seat except during peak hours (6pm-8pm) when multiple Qantas and Jetstar flights depart from Changi Airport.
I'm honestly not too impressed by the arrangement of the seating at the lounge. Yes, the space is vast, but I can't help but feel it looks like a cafeteria with plenty of seating, especially the large tables. The good news is that you'll never be out of seating despite a hoard of Oneworld Sapphires heading to the lounge. That being said, if you're a lounge hopper, you'll find that the seating is much more comfortable than the British Airways lounge just adjacent to the Qantas Business lounge.
Dining Area
Upon passing the bar to your right, you'll reach the dining area of the lounge, which has plenty of seating available. The showers, which are also reviewed, are at the back of the dining area.
While the hot food selection was delicious, the selections were surprisingly less than that of the British Airways lounge which was just adjacent during my visit on the same day.
Shower Area
The shower areas are located at the back of the dining hall, separated from the washrooms which are located near to the entrance.
Given that there were plenty of shower suites available to use, you wouldn't need to wait long for your shower. There is also a handy display that shows which of the shower suites are available for easy access.
The shower suites are equipped with sanitary disposable items and a toilet bowl. I find that the toilets here are much cleaner than the washrooms in the lounge, likely because they are cleaned after each use. The shower suites were also well lit, and water pressure was decent.
Final Thoughts
The Qantas Business Lounge Singapore is an excellent retreat for Oneworld Sapphires travelling in Economy Class and Jetstar passengers that have access to the lounge via Qantas status. If you're travelling on Business Class with any Oneworld airline, whether its Qantas, British Airways, Malaysia Airlines and Qatar Airways, I strongly recommend that you head over to the Qatar Premium Lounge instead, which only accepts travellers sitting in premium cabins. The offerings at the Qatar Premium Lounge is simply put, on a different level of luxury, and is not comparable to the Qantas Business Lounge despite the latter being excellent on its own.
If you're departing on Malaysia Airlines and you are an Enrich Gold status holder, the Qantas Business Lounge is a splendid choice for a quick meal before your flight, but don't forget that you can also visit the British Airways Lounge next door as well if you're keen on making the most out of your status. Don't forget that Malaysia Airlines departs from Terminal 2, which is a 20-minute walk from the Qantas Business Lounge.
The Qantas Business Lounge is open from 2pm-midnight daily, in accordance with Qantas flights out of Changi.
