Public Bank Improves Lounge Access Perks for Visa Infinite and World Mastercard

Well here’s something you genuinely don’t see every day in Malaysia’s credit card landscape: a bank improving its travel benefits instead of quietly trimming them.
Public Bank has officially announced revisions to its Plaza Premium Lounge access benefits for the Public Bank Visa Infinite and Public Bank World Mastercard, effective 1 April 2026. And surprisingly, this update actually works in favour of cardholders.

For context, Public Bank previously revised its lounge policy back in 2024, introducing spending conditions and capping lounge access at 3 visits per calendar year. At the time, this felt like yet another example of Malaysian banks tightening the screws amid rising costs and overcrowded lounges.

Fast forward to 2026, and we’re now seeing a partial reversal of that tightening.
What’s Changing for Public Bank Visa Infinite and World Mastercard
Effective 1 April 2026, Public Bank will revise the Terms and Conditions of its PB Privileges at Plaza Premium Lounge Worldwide Programme.
Previously, cardholders were entitled to 3 accesses per calendar year to participating Plaza Premium Lounges and designated dining outlets, subject to a minimum accumulative retail transaction requirement of RM1,000 within 30 calendar days before and/or after each access.
Under the revised structure:
Lounge access is increased from 3x to 5x per calendar year
The spending requirement remains unchanged
In other words, you now get 5 Plaza Premium Lounge visits per year instead of 3, while still needing to meet the RM1,000 cumulative spend within the 30-day window around each visit.
So no, the spend condition has not been removed entirely. But the annual cap has been expanded from 3 to 5 visits, which is undeniably an upgrade.
It’s a modest improvement, but in today’s environment where banks are reducing lounge allocations, cutting supplementary access, or imposing tighter quotas, an increase is still an increase.
Outlets That Will No Longer Be Available
Public Bank has also confirmed that the following outlets will no longer be available to cardmembers:
Plaza Premium Lounge, Gateway@klia2
Flight Club Grab ‘n’ Go, Gateway@klia2
Plaza Premium Lounge, Domestic Departures @ Penang International Airport
For frequent KLIA2 users, especially those flying AirAsia or other low-cost carriers, the removal of Gateway@klia2 access may sting slightly. That said, anyone who has actually walked from Gateway to the far P/Q gates knows that the value proposition was always debatable at best.
Final Thoughts
This is a positive change, but it doesn’t suddenly transform Public Bank into a serious player in the airline miles ecosystem. Public Bank credit cards have been out of the competitive miles game for as long as most of us can remember. They simply do not feature meaningfully in any serious airline miles strategy, especially when compared to what CIMB, UOB or even Hong Leong Bank are offering today.
In today’s climate, even incremental improvements deserve to be acknowledged. And for once, Public Bank has moved in the right direction.
Just don’t expect it to suddenly compete in the big leagues of airline miles anytime soon.
