Be ready to be transported to an island of oasis and tranquility, which is exactly what the Qantas First Lounge Singapore offers to top-tier Oneworld Emerald frequent flyers and First Class passengers flying on Oneworld airlines at Changi Airport Terminal 1.
The Qantas First Lounge Singapore is located close to the skytrains that take you to Terminal 2, where the E gates are located.
It is adjacent to the Marhaba Lounge on Level 1.
Lounge Access
Access to is available to:
Qantas, Emirates or Oneworld passengers departing in First Class
Qantas Platinum One and Platinum members departing on a Qantas, Jetstar or oneworld flight, in any cabin
Emirates Skywards Platinum holders departing on a Qantas or Emirates flight, in any cabin
Oneworld Emerald passengers departing on a oneworld flight, in any cabin
Passengers arriving on an international long-haul (>5 hours) oneworld flight in First Class and connecting to another short-haul flight, in any cabin
First Class passengers, Qantas Platinum One, Platinum, Emirates Skywards Platinum and Oneworld Emerald members may bring one guest with them.
Lounge Seating
Upon entering the lounge, you'll find the space in a long-rectangular form, whereby the shower suites and toilets are located right next to the entrance, while the dining area is located at the back of the lounge. In between, you'll find numerous seating options with tarmac views of the airport.
As you can see, the lounge itself, while decently well-lit with modern finishing, doesn't have much seating, and that's due to the fact that the lounge is specifically catered towards top-tier frequent flyers.
Most business class and Oneworld Sapphire passengers would be directed towards the Qantas International Business Lounge instead.
Dining Area
The dining area itself is spacious, with most tables arranged for pairs of two. I always prefer to sit at the area to the left of the lounge, where the theme is mostly dark and black, due to the more comfortable couches.
Qantas has an extensive Food and Beverage menu. With a variety of Asian and Western options, its hard to go wrong.
I sampled a couple of asian dishes below, and I found them to be superb in quality and taste, much better than what is offered at third party lounges such as SATS or Plaza Premium lounges at Changi.
Of course, given that this is supposed to be a First Class designated lounge, its no surprise that Qantas upholds the highest of standards for its dining.
Both options were spectacular to say the least. I highly recommend trying out as many of the food items as you can and placing your orders early especially during crowded times.
Once you're done with your meal, head over to the bar to sample some of the finest cocktails Qantas has to offer.
With a wide range of alcohol options available, even the pickiest would be satisfied. I did notice however, that the champagne was more on the lower end, but as someone not too fond of bubbles myself, it's not so much of an issue.
Shower Suites and Washrooms
The Qantas First Lounge operates a buzzer system for its shower suites. You'll need to collect the buzzer from the shower attendant which will then buzz when your shower suites are ready.
I recommend obtaining the buzzers immediately upon entering the lounge especially during crowded hours (6pm-8pm) as each shower suite is cleaned thoroughly after each use.
The shower suites are an excellent choice for freshening up just before your flight. During my visit, I had only waited 15 minutes before the shower suite for myself was ready.
I'm glad to report that cleanliness is upheld to the highest of standards, although the water pressure was significantly weak and that there was no hair dryer located in the shower suites.
Final Thoughts
The Qantas First Lounge at Singapore Changi Terminal 1 is an excellent first choice for Oneworld Emerald frequent flyers and First Class passengers looking for the best Qantas has to offer.
With a barrage of Oneworld lounges at Changi Terminal 1, I'll save you the time and tell you that you should just visit the Qantas First Lounge if you have access, as the British Airways Lounge is nowhere near as good compared to this lounge.
If you're in need of a more private space, I would recommend heading to the Qatar Airways Premium Lounge instead, as it's generally quieter since it only admits Business and First passengers and not frequent flyer status holders.
The Qatar Airways Premium Lounge also offers ala-carte dining, but you'll find that most of its options on the menu are western options, so if you're keen on asian options, the Qantas First Lounge is the one to go.
If you're departing on a Malaysia Airlines flight like myself and you have Oneworld Emerald status or Enrich Platinum, I highly recommend checking out this lounge before your flight.
Most of the time, your flight will depart from the E-Gates at Terminal 2, which is just about 10-15 minutes away from the Qantas First Lounge Singapore. You will need to take the skytrain from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2, but overall, the journey is less than 15 minutes.
I find that most Enrich Platinum flyers do not know that they can enter this lounge, as they are directed to the inferior and utter garbage SATS Premium Lounge at Terminal 2 instead!
Just remember that is simply a cost-cutting measure by MAS, as MAS is charged for everytime its Enrich Platinum flyers uses Oneworld lounges, but since that cost is not passed on to you, please do not choose that lousy lounge over this one.
The Qantas First Lounge is generally open from 2pm-Midnight daily, in accordance with Qantas flights out of Changi.
