UOB Malaysia has just unveiled a new dining promotion that awards an additional 5X UNIRM to selected cardholders dining at participating Michelin-starred restaurants.
This promotion is valid from 1 June 2025 to 31 December 2025.
To be clear, this offer is strictly limited to restaurants with actual Michelin stars—Michelin Bib Gourmand and other Michelin-endorsed establishments are excluded.
As expected, the list of participating restaurants is relatively small, so this isn’t likely to change your dining habits overnight. Still, it’s a respectable effort and certainly a nice bonus for cardholders already planning a visit.
The eligible restaurants are:
Dewakan
Beta
Chim by Chef Noom
DC. by Darren Chin
Molina
Au Jardin (Penang)
Auntie Gaik Lean's Old School Eatery (Penang)
UOB confirms that the bonus 5X UNIRM will be credited once the eligible transaction is posted.
Card-Specific MPR Rates
Here’s a breakdown of the actual MPR (Miles per Ringgit) earned based on your UOB card:

Refined Points has independently confirmed with a UOB representative that the additional 5X UNIRM stacks with the existing 5X UNIRM offered on dining for the UOB Visa Infinite Metal, UOB Privilege Banking Visa Infinite, and UOB Visa Infinite.
This brings the total to 10X UNIRM for qualifying dining transactions—though do note that UOB reserves the right to amend this stacking mechanism at any time.
The Competition
Credit where it’s due—UOB’s latest campaign is clean, simple, and free of overly complicated terms (looking at you, Standard Chartered and your 60% capped cashback quirks)!
It’s a refreshing move, especially given the usual fine print we’ve come to expect.

However, in the broader landscape of dining benefits, UOB is still playing catch-up. CIMB, for instance, had previously launched a Michelin dining campaign in 2023 that included not just starred restaurants but also Bib Gourmand listings—totalling more than 20 establishments.

Today, CIMB’s Preferred Visa Infinite offers a straight 20% discount at CINNAMON Group restaurants, which includes heavy-hitters like ALIYAA, Nero Nero, Natalina Italian Kitchen, and Bocado. These are some of the best culinary names in KL, with Natalina at Avenue K earning numerous awards and cementing itself as a dining destination. To me, this is the gold standard: thoughtful, relevant partnerships over flashy but limited options.
UOB’s core challenge lies in its limited merchant network. Despite generous dining accelerators on cards like the Visa Infinite series, UOB lacks a deep lineup of partner restaurants and cafés. CIMB, by contrast, boasts more than 200 dining partners.
This makes it easy to see why some Refined Points readers choose to remain within the CIMB ecosystem, even when UOB offers marginally better MPR rates on paper.
Final Thoughts
This is a good move by UOB, especially in a space that’s becoming increasingly competitive. The stacking of 10X UNIRM on eligible cards is generous, and there’s no denying the prestige of dining at a Michelin-starred restaurant.
But with only seven options across Malaysia, the promotion feels more like a niche perk than a game-changing value proposition.
For high-spending foodies who frequent these top-tier establishments, the promotion certainly adds value. For everyone else, especially those who appreciate variety and everyday relevance, broader and more accessible dining offers still come out ahead. Anyone else think a 15% discount on Luckin Coffee would be equally as great? Haha
UOB’s dining game is certainly improving—but it’s not quite there yet.
